„60 years resolutely devoted to the way of karate – with Matsubayashi-ryū sparkling in the whole world – Let’s appreciate this meritorious deed today – of Nagamine Shōshin, the Saint of Boxing (kensei 拳聖) of the Shōwa era (1926 -1989).
Just to understand the term “Saint of Boxing” (kensei): it was used only for the most important martial artists of their era, like Matsumura Sōkon, Higaonna Kanryō, or Itosu Ankō during the Meiji Era, or for Myagi Chōjun.
