Metal artifacts from Old Ryukyu era

Metal artifacts from Old Ryukyu era:

  1. Chain or plate armor (kusarikatabira) sewn on a base made of padded cloth or between two layers of fabric. Shuri Sasu-no-Ma excavation.

  2. Ferrules called habaki were attached at the base of the blade to ensure a snug fit with the scabbard. Shuri Hokuden excavation.

  3. Small longish metal plate called kozane, used for for scale armor. Shuri excavation.
